Hi International Couples. We would like to share our experience about De Facto Partnership Visa . It has been already 2 years since we got it.
In Ireland, De Facto Partnership Immigration Permission is an immigration status that allows you to stay with your long term partner in Ireland. You will need to prove that you and your partner are both committed to a shared life together to the exclusion of all others.
To be entitled to apply for this type of Visa, you will need to satisfy the following requirements:
- How long the couple have been together in their relationship (at least two years and it can be proved with utility bills and/or landlords’ official statements. It is worth trying even though you can prove it for only one year..)
- Financial dependency (You will need to show documents that prove the transfer of money from your account to your partner’s account; a bank statement would be sufficient)
- the couple must not be related by family
- You will need to provide a letter from your employer stating you are currently working there along with your payslip to show that you are regularly paying tax.
It really depends from case to case on how long the entire process will take. It took less than 6 months for us, but we saw many people waiting nearly a year. Once submitted all the documents, if your partner’s current VISA is about to expire you can ask a temporary VISA which is valid for three months.

You will deal with bureaucratic issues. Do Not Stop Trying. Eventually, You will get it.
