Galway is a harbour city in the West of Ireland where the River Corrib meets the Atlantic Ocean. Galway is the sixth most populous city in Ireland.
It is located 2.30/3 hours from Dublin, easily reachable by Train or Bus. If you decide to go there during winter time, make sure to bring with you heavy clothes, scarf and a warm hat. It is usually quite windy and cold over there.
Sujin and I booked an AIRBNB for three days in Galway city center and we took the bus from Dublin to reach there. The time in Bus goes quite fast if you have a book or Netflix with you.
Galway is quite small, so wherever you book for an accommodation it should be fine. The main attractions to visit in Galways are: ‘Eyre Square’, ‘Spanish Arch’, ‘Galway Cathedral’, ‘Quay Street’, ‘Galways City Museums’, and ‘Galway Atlantaquaria‘. You can probably visit all of them in 1 day.
I recommend to spend an entire afternoon in Salthill, which is a seaside resort on the northern shore of Galway Bay. Its beach consists of a series of small rocky or sandy stretches and it faces the Atlantic Ocean.
In Salthill there is a really good Italian Restaurant called ‘Da Roberta’, where you can eat nice Italian food in a nice Italian atmosphere. The price is quite cheap and the food is of good quality. We ordered meatball, Lasagna and Cannelloni, a lot of bread and two espresso. We paid 31 euro. Here the link: http://www.darobertas.ie/
We also went to the ‘Hooked’ fish market restaurant in Galway city center. their specialty is the fish (Salmon) pie. The amsophere is great. It is a bit more expensive than the Italian Restaurant but the fish was really fresh and tasty. Here the link to check out the menù: http://www.hookedonhenryst.com/menu
Overall, a nice place to go with your partner to spend a lovely two days relaxing and enjoying the breeze on the skin and a walk on the Atlantic Ocean.
