Just my opinion about the salary of UKRN + rent / 영국간호사 월급

I think most of people would wonder about salary, living environment in London, work environment and job opportunities etc..

Firstly, salaries as a nurse (band 5) in UK is definitely lower than university hospitals in Seoul, South Korea, according to my experience. If you take into account only the currency rate (pound £-won ₩), the salary in UK is still similar or lower than Seoul. Especially, when you think about living expenses in London, this story is even worse.

사실 많은 분들이 월급이나 생활환경, 병원환경 그리고 진급기회 등을 더 많이 궁금해 하실 것 같은데요. 영국 간호사 월급 많지 않습니다. 한국 서울의 대학병원 기준, 슬프게도 더 적습니다. 그냥 환율을 적용했을 때도 겨우 비슷하거나 적은 편인데, 영국 특히 런던 물가를 생각 했을 때는 정말 적은 편입니다.

When it comes to band 5 nurse which you will be after OSCE, the salary is the most likely to be approximately £24,000 – £30,000, which is before tax. From what I have experienced, tax can really vary usually, depends on total salary (e.g. Tax can be taken more if you get more money after you did many nights) and opting to pay for pension.

** you can get the money back that you were paying for your pension if you opt it out before 2 years. After 2 years of paying for pension, you would get the money back when you become 65 years old.

Also, if you work in London, you can get roughly £2000-£2500 per year as inner London price according to the place. Because the closer to the city centre, the more expensive your living expenses is, especially in terms of rent. That money is also gross, which is before tax.

OSCE를 친고 나서 밴드5가 되는데 월급이 1년에 보통 £24,000 – £30,000 정도 됩니다. 물론 세전이고, 세금은 한달에 얼마를 받느냐, 연금을 선택했나에 따라 달라집니다. 보통 더 많이 일하면 세금이 더 올라갑니다. 예로 지난달에 나이트를 좀 많이 했다하면 어김없이 세금을 좀 더 많이 떼어가는거죠.

연금은 보통 내기로 결정 후 2년안에해지하면 돈을 돌려받을 수 있지만 아니면 나중에 나이가 65세 이상이 되어야 받을 수 있어요. 그래서 정날 터를 잡고 살 생각이면 연금을 들지만 아니면 해지하거나 시작하지도 않더라고요.

그리고 런던 내에 있는 병원이라면 지역에 따라 런던생활비라는 이름으로 1년에 £2000-£2500 정오 받습니다. 물가가 중심가로 갈 수록 특히 렌트비가 비싸기 때문입니다. 저 금액도 세전입니다.

If you want to live alone like studio which is one-room in Korea, it would be more than £ 800 per month. Again, It really depends on the place and conditions of the accommodation. It might be cheaper if you choose to live in a shared house. It would, however, still nearly half of your salary. Besides there are other expenditures that you should think about. Maybe this is why I have seen lots of nurses working extra to earn money.

살 집을 생각해봤을 때, 일단 한국처럼 원룸이 많지도 않지만 스튜디오라 불리는 집은 보통 800£ 이상입니다. 지역에 따라 편차가 정말 심해요. 쉐어하우스는 (방을 빌리고 주방, 거실등을 같이 사용하는 집) 불편한 만큼, 조금 더 저렴합니다. 그래도 여전히 월급의 반정도는 집세로 나가게 되고 장바구니 지출 (마트에서 식재료를 사서 요리해 먹는 것) 외 영국은 모든 것이 한국보다 비쌉니다. 그래서 그런지 엑스트라로 더 일하는 간호사를 참 자주봅니다.
