Today, I would like to share about getting a job in UK after confirmation about documents, aka, a decision letter. While you are waiting this letter, you can start to apply for jobs.
오늘은 잡 구하기에 대해서 이야기해보겠습니다. NMC가 요구하는 모든 서류를 제출하면 ‘A decision letter’를 받을 수 있는데요. 이메일로 그리고 우편으로도 보내줍니다. 이 레터를 기다리시면서 일을 구하시면 됩니다. 인터뷰는 레터가 없어도 가능하나 이 서류가 없으면 병원에서 비자를 위해서 그 이상 진행이 안되요.
To be honest, I would say getting a job is quite easy since UK faces an immense shortage of nurses. That is why NMC has removed experience requirement and reduced also score of English test.
In my opinion, you should decide first what you consider to be your most important personal requirement such as location, saving money and quality of a work place. I decided to send my CV to hospitals/educational hospitals which are located only in London as It was important for me the location and the quality of the hospital.
솔직히 말해서, 영국에서 일 구하기는 상당히 쉬운 것 같아요. 경력도 보지 않고 영어 점수도 낮췄듯이 간호사가 정말 부족하거든요. 제 경험상으로는 먼저 일을 구할 때 무엇이 본인에게 가장 중요한가를 생각하셔야 할 것 같아요. 위치, 월급, 병원크기 등등. 저는 런던 존3까지의 병원만 찾고 CV를 보냈고 대학교와 연결된 곳만 찾았어요.
Since I am from South Korea ,unlike other countries such as India and Philippines where nurses come as a group, I applied and went through the process alone. So I don’t really know what agencies can provide to you when you ask for help. What did I do for getting a job? I searched all hospitals in London within zone 3, found recruiters’ email address and constantly sent my CV. Then I was also able to attend open assessment day in London since I was in Dublin which is quite close to London. I saw many nurses who did an interview on Skype as well.
The most important fact is that there are lots of nurses (even from EU) who can’t even speak English properly, but still work as nurses. This is one of the reasons why also those from EU have to take the English test.
When you do an interview, seriously don’t worry so much about your English.
인도나 필리핀의 경우 에이젼시를 이용하여 그룹으로 오지만 한국같은 경우는 영국간호사만을 위한 에이젼시는 없는 것 같아요. 또 저는 아일랜드에 있었기 때문에 혼자 준비하고 지원하였습니다. 먼저 병원을 찾아보고 홈페이지에 나와있는 인사담당자 이메일로 제 CV를 마구마구 보냈어요. 그리고 얼마 후에 런던에 가서 오픈데이라고 불리는 간단한 필기시험과 인터뷰를 보았습니다. 다른 간호사들을 보니 지역이 먼 경우에는 스카이프로도 많이 인터뷰를 보았더라구요.
중요한 것은 영국에는 다른언어를 쓰는 유럽피안들이 많기 때문에 영어는 정말 크게 걱정 안하셔도 될 것 같습니다. 의사소통문제가 이슈가 되어 몇년 전부터는 유럽피안 간호사들도 영국에 오기위해서는 영어시험을 쳐야해요. 아일랜드도 작년부터 쳐야하는 걸로 바뀌었습니다.
지나가는 이야기로 모든 이들에게 영어시험은 걸림돌이기 때문에 대표적으로 포르투갈, 스페인, 이탈리아인들은 아일랜드에 먼저와서 (그전에는 시험없이 그냥 일하러 올 수 있었음) 요양원이나 작은병원에서 2년을 채우고, 동시에 영어도 늘리면서 그러고는 그 경력으로 영어시험을 피해서 영국으로 넘어가거나 아니면 막 5년 전에 이미 면허증을 바꿔놓고 이제야 아일랜드나 영국으로 넘어가는 사람들도 많더라구요. 같은 유럽이라도 간호사 월급이 아일랜드나 영국이 본국에 비해 2배 이상이라 많이들 온다고 해요.
